Gorgeous and rare vintage set of four polished wheel cut etched crystal champagne coupes from Rock Sharpe. Beautiful glasses with gracefully flared stems with three discs and etched feet in addition to the ornate wheel cut floral bowls. Each glass measures 5.75" high. All four in fine condition, free of chips or cracks, glass unclouded. Pattern identified as 2009 (which relates to the three-disc stem, not the year), version 13, an especially scarce pattern.

Please check my other listings for more glasses in the same pattern.

Rock-Sharpe crystal dates primarily from its heyday from the 1920's through the 1950's. It grew out of the Cataract Company of Buffalo, which was originally formed in 1914 by Alfred H. Sharpe, who had been a manager at Fostoria Glass Company. Until 1920, the firm was known as Cataract Glass Company. Cataract-Sharpe cut many intricate, deep-cut crystal patterns. Many of the designs were ornately done and brilliantly polished. A fern-like leaf design was a very typical design for Sharpe and it appears in a variety of their cut patterns. It is important to note that the company's specific stem designs were not matched with any particular cuttings. Rock-Sharpe was acquired by Owens'-Williams (Libbey) until it was completely dissolved to concentrate on Libbey's more commercial glass designs.
