The genus Curcuma L. (Zingiberaceae), with approximately 80 species, distributes almost throughout tropical Asia, from western India to South Asia, southern China, Southeast Asia, New Guinea, northern Australia and South Pacific Islands. Thailand is one of the center of distribution of Curcuma, with 38 species found, represent all known subgenera. The relationships among them are still unclear but some traits were found that can help infrageneric classification.
