School feeding programmes are a convenient means by which important nutrients can be provided to needy children in schools located in poor communities; the programme ensures that school children have food to eat, thereby helping them to concentrate during lessons. However, since the food is handled by various people along the value chain, it is at risk of cross contamination. The study was conducted to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices of food handlers on the school feeding programme in Mumbwa district. Mumbwa district was purposively selected by the researcher due to its proximity to Lusaka and the fact that it is implementing the school feeding programme in its public and community schools. Data collection was conducted through interviews using a structured questionnaire between 6th and 23rd February 2018 based on a sample size of 139 food handlers. The research was a descriptive crosssectional survey which took a quantitative approach.
