Photograph Notes: Not much remains of Deganwy Castle, because it was systematically demolished by the Welsh forces of Llywelyn ap Gruffudd in 1263. This is one of the larger sections of wall, and shows the care bestowed upon it in 2010 by CADW. Extensive growth of ivy was removed before pointing and preservation, resulting in much better visibility. A higher section of the same wall can also be seen atop the somewhat quarried outcrop of rhyolitic tuff of Ordovician age which is the local bedrock.
