Hardy Bros. Ltd began in Producing a yearly GUIDE in competition to all other manufacturers at the time

( Cummins / Allcocks / Farlow, et al)

It became the most sought after and highly anticipated evening reading for sportsmen and gentlemen the world over.

Known as the 'Angler's Guide'.

This catalogue made the Hardy Brothers the best-known fishing tackle manufacturer in the world, leading 'tens of thousands of fishermen... spending their winter evening pouring through its pages'.

Contents are broken down into the various methods of angling, and includes 'Fly Fishing', 'Spinning and Prawning', 'Dry Fly', 'Wormin' and 'Sundries' Each section also includes a helpful job instructing the reader on how to fish.

When originally delivered by mail or train or plane, it had a 'Details for Register' leaflet loosely inserted into the text, which gave the consumer an opportunity to open an account with the business, and place orders worldwide.

we place books into these cataegories ( opinions vary - so look at pics and ask any questions BEFORE bidding)

Excellent - Very well preserved copy showing very little wear

Very Good Only one or two minor faults, really a very attractive copy

Quite a wide term meaning no major faults but probably several smaller ones

often expected given the age of the book, but still a respectable copy

Good -  Some more serious faults as will

be described in listing

Fair -  with other faults

leaving a compromised copy even after repair

Poor - Really bad and possibly seriously incomplete.

 Major defects will be listed
