J & E Stevens Cast Iron Bank 1893 World's Fair Souvenir
Made by J. & E. Stevens of Connecticut, this piece was made for souvenir sale at the Chicago World's Fair of 1893 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Columbus' discovery of America.  This piece is made of Cast Iron and marked side "PAT APPL'D FOR". Placing a coin in front of Christopher Columbus and pulling his arm pops up a figure under the tree trunk depositing the coin. The dimensions of the piece are ht. 6.5", 8" w, and 3.25" dp. A great gift or addition to any collection.
