An Original circa 1930s MAGIC poster (28 inches x 41 inches) of Howard Thurston (Born July 20,1869 and Died April 13,1936 -aged 66), or Will Rock (aka William George Rakauskas) from 1938 to 1942 performed "WILL ROCK, The Modern Monarch of Magic Presents THURSTON's Mysteries of India". In the 20th century's first decades, Howard Thurston known as "The King of Cards" was the most famous magician of his time, thrilling people with his own brand of stage magic, a giant production requiring eight train cars transporting 40 tons of equipment and provisions. Thurston performed for royalty, celebrities and presidents. WILL ROCK began doing magic about 1921, and started touring professionally in 1929, and met and joined, as an assistant, THE GREAT RAYMOND in 1931. In 1936, Howard Thurston died, and in 1938, WILL ROCK purchased the equipment and "secrets" from Jane Thurston, Howard Thurston's daughter. On Linen Backing, and conserved in the "European Style", the poster was nicely backed in GOOD+ condition Originally folded, the poster has age-appropriate edge and fold wear with border chipping, small missing paper internally, smudges, minor tears on border, and minor stains.
