Sports Illustrated HAIL TO THE CHAMPS Houston Rockets 🚀 Vernon Maxwell & Sam Cassell Signed Autographed

I purchased this issue same day as me and a friend went to the Rockets basketball game in Houston. After the game, some of the players go to the local Bennigan’s to celebrate their win and have a few drinks.

I went to Sam Cassell #10 and he happily signed the cover of the Sports Illustrated. He then slides magazine to guy sitting next to him to sign. The other guy I don’t remember nor can tell what name is in signature but I do see #15. He must have been a bench player. Who knows.

As we were leaving restaurant for night, we see this Black Porsche park in handicap parking and Vernon Maxwell exits car. Seems about right that he would park in handicap and not care. Anyways, I ask for autograph and he reluctantly agrees. As he signs he noticed the ink did not come out of pen on to the cover. (I know, I should have had a sharpie instead of a ball point pen). He then says to me “next time use a fucking pen that works” he slams pen on my chest and it falls to ground.

My buddy and just stood there in awe. We new he was asshole on the court but we always just thought that was all for show. Nope, he’s just in general an asshole all the time.

As you can see on cover at angle the indentation of his signature without the ink.
