Hetian jade is a type of nephrite, a gemstone that belongs to the amphibole group of minerals, mainly composed of tremolite and actinolite, it can have various colours, such as white, green, yellow, brown, black, and red.  It is named after Hetian, a town in Xinjiang, China, where it is mined from the Kunlun Mountains, but it can also be found in other places.
