Theresa Saldana played a memorable starring role in the Robert De Niro biopic film Raging Bull based on the real life boxing champion Jake Lamotta the controversial world middleweight boxing champion of the 1940’s and 50’s.

Theresa Saldana played the wife of Joe Pesci who was Jake Lamatta’s (Robert de Niro) brother in the film.

In 1982, Saldana was repeatedly stabbed by an obsessed stalker who saw her in tge film and another film she acted in. He tried to murder her in front of her West Hollywood apartment stabbing her multiple time with a knife.

The attack was stopped by a deliveryman who luckily was making a delivery as the attack was happening, his name Jeff Fenn, held the man for police. Others in the apartment complex never came to her aid as they listen to her screams for help from their apartments.

Scottish drifter Arthur Jackson was charged with the assault and served more than a decade in prison for the crime before he was extradited back to the UK to face charges in an unrelated case here.

After the attack which Theresa Saldana was lucky to have survived, and left her fighting for her life in hospital. Understandably she was both physically and mentally scarred after the attack.

After her recovery she went on to found a support and lobbying group, Victims for Victims, and played herself in the 1984 TV movie Victims for Victims: The Theresa Saldana Story
