Piotr Michailovich Kolomoitsev was born in 1924 in Krasny Luch, Lugansk Region in Ukraine. In 1937-1941 he studied painting at the Lugansk Art College and in 1941-45 participated in the Second World War as a marine infanterist. In 1944 he came to Sevastopol in Crimea where he served in the navy until 1961 with parallel participation in various art exhibitions. In 1961 after his retreat from the navy, he began a professional career as decoration painter and restaurateur. Kolomoitsev was awarded with the state title "Honored Artist of Ukraine" and was member of the Ukrainian Artist Union. He took regularly part in town, regional, republican and international (France, Japan, Germany etc.) exhibitions. He died in Sevastopol in 2013.
