Our antique Indian teak wood pillar base candle holders are all totally unique and date from the eighteenth - nineteenth century. We have added a rustic iron candle holder to the middle to make them functional. Each is intricately carved, usually from one piece of solid teak wood, and often come with much of the original paint in situ, as this wonderful Pair do. Our bases are salvaged from old buildings in Gujarat State and Rajasthan and saved for future generations! In a previous life they would have supported the tops and bottoms of teak columns that stood outside grand houses in eighteenth and nineteenth century India. Usually with beautiful ornate hand carvings all over them and lots of wonderful paint with a fine patina, each Candle Base is an entirely'unique antique! They look great as a centerpiece of the sideboard, dining table, fire hearth or the kitchen table, and would be the perfect character addition to a period property or even to add character to a new style home. These column bases are saved from buildings in India which have fallen into a state of disrepair and are no longer rescuable. These antique pillar bases are clearly very old pieces and there are some historic repairs and age related marks and wear and tear as you would expect.'
