Mayones Aquila 6 Guitar HSS 3A Birdseye Maple Fretboard Trans Dirty Purple Gloss

Description

PLAYER'S PERSPECTIVE

Always adding to their repertoire of instruments, Mayones decided to take on a more traditional body shape and style of guitar - and did they seriously knock it out of the park with the Aquila! This one's in a gorgeous Trans Dirty Purple Gloss over a 4A Flame Maple top, and features a T.E.W. (roasted for enhanced stability and resonance) maple neck and birdseye maple fretboard, as well as an H-S-S Lollar pickup configuration.

While this isn't exactly a "vintage"-looking instrument per se, it definitely has a decidedly different tone and design ethos than most of their other metal and shred-oriented guitars. It's going to naturally appeal to players looking for something a bit more classic-sounding, but still demanding the extremely high build quality and ease of play that comes with every Mayones.

The construction of the Aquila is every bit what we've come to expect from Mayones - masterful from top to bottom. The fretwork is incredible and the recessed Gotoh 510 bridge allows for nice low action. But what really sets this apart is the tone! The Aquila features a Lollar Imperial low-wind humbucker, which is a PAF-style pickup that sounds awesome in a bolt-on format, as well as Sixty-Four middle and neck pickups, which, as you might expect, have all of the punch and sparkle of mid-60s vintage "S" pickups. They're awesome! The volume knob is a push/pull so you can split the bridge pickup or run it in full humbucking mode, depending on what you need.

Finally, there's a Mayones offering for guitarists that don't necessarily want to melt faces with heavy metal riffage, but prefer something a little more tame, vocal, and more open-sounding. All that being said, this is definitely not your father's S-style guitar.

Simply put, they've nailed it!
