  • Sydenstricker Glass was created by Bill Sydenstricker ( - 1994) in the mid 1960's on Cape Cod. His research on early Egyptian art, while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, led him to develop a fused glass technique unique to his studio. Two sheets of clear glass are placed over a hand cut stencil design and filled with powdered glass. The glass is then placed into a hand-crafted mold and high fired in the kiln, locking the colorful design inside the fused glass. Over 50 years later, Sydenstricker's small group of artisans still operate the Brewster, MA studio with the same methods, original designs, and with the same high standards of their founder. Workshop visitors are encouraged to tour and observe this unique and wonderful glass making process. Sydenstricker pieces, both new and vintage discontinued designs, are highly collectible today.
