Rainey had finished 2nd in points in 1989, which is why this bike was still wearing the #2 plate.
Still running 4 cylinder 500CC 2 strokes, Riding for Team Roberts, Rainey won 7 of 15 races.
He would go on to win the next 2 years as well. Winning 3 World Championships.
