Die siebzehnte Ausgabe der African Ounce Serie aus Ruanda ist dem Berggorilla gewidmet, welcher im Jahr 2008 auch die erste Ausgabe der Serie zierte und damit im Jahr 2023 sein 15. Jubiläum begeht. Das Motiv zeigt eine Abbildung des afrikanischen Kontinents sowie eine Gorilla-Familie. Im Design enthalten sind außerdem die Aufschriften "AFRICAN OUNCE", "2023", "1oz FINE SILVER 999" und die Jahreszahlen zum Jubiläum "2008 - 2023". Auf der Rückseite ist das Wappen Ruandas zu sehen.

Der Lebensraum der Berggorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei) ist auf zwei Gebiete in Afrika beschränkt - das Gebiet der Virunga-Vulkane und den Bwindi-Wald. Dort leben sie in Gruppen, die aus etwa 10 Individuen bestehen und somit größer sind als bei anderen Gorillapopulationen. Berggorillas sind außerdem diejenige Unterart aus der Familie der Menschenaffen, welche am ausgeprägtesten auf dem Boden lebt und sich am meisten von Blättern ernährt. Die African Ounce Serie mit jährlich wechselndem Motiv ehrt jedes Jahr eine andere afrikanische Tierart. Die Lieferung der Silber-Anlagemünze erfolgt eingeschweißt in der originalen Schutzfolie.

The seventeenth issue of the African Ounce Series from Rwanda is dedicated to the Mountain Gorilla, which also graced the first issue of the series in 2008 and thus celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2023. The motive features an image of the African continent and a Gorilla family. The habitat of the mountain gorilla (Gorilla beringei beringei) is limited to two areas in Africa - the Virunga Volcanoes area and the Bwindi Forest. There they live in groups consisting of about 10 individuals, which is larger than other gorilla populations. Mountain gorillas are also the subspecies of the great ape family that lives most distinctively on the ground and feeds most on leaves. The African Ounce Series with annually changing motive honors a different African species each year. The silver bullion coin is delivered sealed in the original plastic foil.
