Robert Francis Kennedy was assassinated in the kitchen area of the Los Angeles Ambassador Hotel on the night he won the June 4, 1968 California Democratic Presidential Primary. After having just finished his speech and, while exiting the hotel, he was shot.  He died early in the morning of June 6. Bobby may have been on the way towards the White House if Sirhan Sirhan hadn't killed him - that man is actually still alive in a California jail. Which shows that state has been a loony bin since the 1960's.

Here's a 5 3/8" x 3" poll or palm card hand-out from RFK's short-lived campaign, for the presidential primary held in Indiana on May 7 when he beat Eugene McCarthy 42% to 27%.  If you know your history, you remember that RFK was in Indianapolis campaigning for this primary on April 4th, on the night when Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. And his words to calm that that crowd after he announced to them what had happened, may have been at the height of his eloquence.

There may be much more interest in historical items such as this since, 55 years later, his son, Robert Kennedy Jr. is now running for president himself!
