original 1886 antique color lithographed map of Scotland in the 16th
century, showing
old divisions and the localities of the Highland Clans.
- The map was compiled and
engraved by William & Alexander Keith
Johnston, Edinburgh and has wonderful detail, with topography drawn in
relief.

The image area measures 29 x 21.6 cm [11½" x 8½"]. The water areas are
tinted in a blue wash.

The map was issued in an American edition of the Encyclopædia
Britannica, New York, 1886. It is identified as Plate VI,
Volume XXI. A previous owner has stamped his name on the back; otherwise, it is
blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side

Condition: It is in excellent condition,
bright and clean, with a horizontal centerfold, as issued, and no
rips, tears, or writing.
