- Peggy Steffes (1947 WI - ) has built an impressive career as a ceramic artist and stone mason in Stevensville, Montana. A pottery major, she graduated in 1969 with a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. In 1971 she earned her MFA from the University of Idaho. She moved to Bitterroot Montana in 1973 where she owned and operated Bitterroot Pottery from 1973-2000 and also, after mastering the art of stone masonry, owned and operated Stone Arch Masonry until 2011. As a potter she built her own kilns and was so inspired by working with the ancient and indigenous stones, moved on to build the impressive Roman Revival stone arches, stone walls, several homes, Stone Tower Estate, and her Stone Arch Farm in the Fred Burr Valley, for which she has gained much deserved notoriety.
