Here for you is a fine Petzval from the venerable Jamin et Darlot, made in the short three year partnership and an early example of the straight form of the convertible lens as apposed to the more distinctive Cone Centralisateur which had the same convertible features. Although the barrel is not inscribed the distinctive construction / tooling points towards jamin et Darlot and the ink inscription on the front element confirms its heritage. With the landscape components removed the lens provides a f/4 220mm Petzval for 5x7. When used as a landscape/paysage lens the front element is pull from the barrel and lenshood is removed to allow the threads to be mounted to the lens board, adding the washer stops and correction lens completes a f/15 305mm landscape lens also for 5x7  it covers also 10x8, there is also the option of a f/22 450mm landscape lens with the correction lens (often missing) removed.
As you would expect the lens shows all the petzval character you need with excellent central sharpness and swirls in the outer edges, the lens in Landscape mode again offers typical signature with central sharpness gradually reducing to the edges of frame.

A side note but maybe an important note, this lens is smaller example of the Jamin lens used by Julia Margaret Cameron used for Her work between 1864 and 1866. That lens resides in the V&A's collection not currently on display but there is a discription on the V&A website. So find yourself a Chicken Shed for your studio and off you go.

So for that Beauty, Power and Endurance and Jamin et Darlot 1860's mojo for your portraits, landscapes or even nudes on film or wet plate.
