~ Complete Set Of Circa 1640 English Pikemans Armour  ~

A superb complete composite English Civil War Pikeman's armour set consisting of a helmet, gorget, breastplate, tassets, backplate and half pike in fanastic condition displayed on a custom built wooden stand.

The helmet is an excellent English pikemans pott, please note there are no ear flaps. Of the two piece construction with a deep bowl. The scarce gorget is made from two plates rivetted together at the left and fastened at the right with a mushroom headed stud which engages a keyhole slot on the front plate. The breastplate has a crowned IR tower arsenal mark and a 'W' armourers mark for Richard Wright, the straps are replacements. The backplate has a crowned IR tower arsenal mark and a 'R' armourers mark for Frances Rolenson.  It is a rare to find an actual Pikeman's backplate in such a set as they are usually fitted with the less rare Harquebusier backplate instead. The half pike is of of indeterminate age and is 7 foot 4 inches in length. The head may be period, the shaft is a more recent replacement.
