For sale is this incredible authentic medieval iron curved knife blade! This blade was made with a sharp curve at the tip that would have allowed it to grip and pull what it was cutting. Pieces like this were used in carpentry, farming, household tasks, hunting, and even as defensive weapons. It is rusted from years of being buried, and is very fragile and frail in places. It was located in Central Europe, and has been a part of a private US based collection for many years now. The collection is being sold off upon its owners retirement and I was lucky enough to get this with some other pieces. This blade was once mounted to a wooden handle (that would have surrounded/held the shaft of the blade). Blades like this took a higher skill level to produce than standard straight blades, and had a more refined area of use/skill. They are MUCH more rare to find on the market. It is made of iron, and has a good bit of rust on it. Note from the photos the wear, rust, and heavy pitting. This is an incredible find. Great authentic artifact that would work as a display piece, teaching tool, conversation piece, or collectible! Perfect for any collection! Don’t pass it up!

This piece has the following provenance:

- Found in Central Europe with a metal detector

- Purchased by a German collector once the items were released for sale

- Purchased in the 1980/90’s by a Private US collector, and displayed in a private collection of ancient & medieval artifacts (mostly arms and armor).

- I purchased it from this collection when the owner retired, and began selling his items off.
