This is a used book that has been read and therefore will show some signs of wear. It is, however, in good condition, especially for a first edition of such an old book.

The pages inside are obviously old but are in very good condition, but they should be handled with care to avoid damage. The outside binding is in incredibly good condition. It has perhaps been professionally rebound as I have never seen another quite like it and the cover is very unique, however I am not sure.
