This Pioneers of Flight Cover, produced by Fleetwood, measures approximately 7 1/2" W x 4 " H .

It is part of a set of Commemorative Covers honoring the people and events in man's quest for the skies, issued in co-operation with the International Aerospace Hall of Fame.

According to the Fleetwood Corporation brochure:

Ever since man first saw the birds soar through the skies, he has been determined to imitate them. In the eyes of man, to fly was to conquer; to dominate; to be a god.

But the dream of flight did not come easily. it took hundreds of years of experimenting - by scientific geniuses as well as by reckless tower jumpers - before the Wright Brothers could simply skim the earth like a starling.

Yet, once that historic flight took place, man's romance with the skies leaped forward with incredible speed.

Man's rapid progress in the air can be attributed to the many courageous and forward-looking men and women who sought to carry man's conquest of the heavens one step further. These include air aces, daredevils, industrialists, explorers, and inventors from around the world to fly farther and faster than man had ever before flown. Truly, these are the Pioneers of Flight.

To honor theses outstanding visionaries, Fleetwood joined with the International Aerospace Hall of Fame to create The Pioneers of Flight Commemorative Cover collection that tells the magnificent story of man's journey into the heavens. Each cachet artwork was drawn by the award-winning artist David Stone.

As its symbol - the Winged Man - indicates, the nonprofit International Aerospace Hall of Fame was established in 1963 to honor the brave men and women whose courage has given wings to man, and has opened the universe to exploration. Each year, more than half a million people visit the Hall of Fame in San Diego to learn the story of these great aerospace heroes.

Members of the Hall of Fame are chosen by the prestigious board of electors who annually elect deserving men and women to membership. The Pioneers of Flight Collection includes a philatelic Commemorative Cover for each of the gallant men and women who have contributed to man's legacy of flight.

****All items are packed carefully with cardboard to ensure that they arrive to you in the same condition they left our full service store and offices. WE USUALLY SHIP WITHIN 1 FULL BUSINESS DAY OF PAYMENT.

SHIPPING RATES

Domestic - 1-3 items first class for $2 | 4-10 items first class parcel for $3 | 11 items and up will be adjusted depending on weight and value (normally sent in priority mail envelope/box for $10.00)

***** Some items that are odd shaped or heavier will have a different Standard Shipping price. These items will be subject to parcel rates at $5.50 or higher and will usually already be reflected in the listings shipping rate chart.

International - 1-3 items first class for $3 | 4 items and up will be adjusted depending on weight and value. Parcel rates for international shipments start at $15. (Canada & Mexico subject to slightly lower rates in parcel cases)

***** All international shipments with a value of $60 USD and over will be sent by registered mail for safety. The cost for registered mail is $20 extra, added to the above shipping rates. A buyer can request a lower, first class only shipping rate, but the buyer will take full responsibility for the items shipped and any possible loss or damage through mailing

**** Shipments to Italy will be subject to our Registered Mail rule (as seen above) but at items values of $30 USD and over.
