Another book in superb condition from my private library and attributed to my interest in Army Padres on the front line 1914-18;
The Church of England and the First World War' (1978) explores in depth the role of the church during the tragic circumstances of the First World War using biographies, newspapers, magazines, letters, poetry and other sources in a balanced evaluation. Alan Wilkinson writes about the sheer horror and the interaction between religion, the church and the war with a professional hand.  It makes intriguing reading. I purchased the book in 1978 and I remember enjoying the read as it gave me a deeper understanding into the workings of the Church at home and in the trenches.
It has been on my bookshelf untouched ever since so is in perfect condition.
I noticed that a hardback first-edition of the book is on sale with a professional book seller for £80.00!
£15.00 including postage.
Thanks for your interest.
