antique copper engraved 1824 map of locations mentioned by Homer in the
Iliad and the Odyssey.
- The image area measures 24 x
40 cm [9½" x 15¾"], topography is drawn in
relief, and there are two insets.
- The map is titled Populi, Urbes, &c.,
in Græcia, Thracia, et Asia, quorum
meminit
Homerus, exceptis iis quorum situs ignoratur; cura et studio D.
Macpherson. (The peoples, cities, &c., in Greece,
Thrace, and
Asia,
of which Homer mentions, with the exception of those whose location is
unknown; the care and study of Mr. Macpherson).

by David Macpherson, and published
in
Philadelphia by
Samuel F. Bradford and Murray, Fairman & Company in the
Geographiæ Antiquæ
atlas to accompany Abraham Rees' Cyclopædia, or Universal
Dictionary of Arts, Sciences, and Literature, 1824.
- Condition: It is in very good condition, a bold,
crisp, engraving,
with a light waviness to the paper and no marks,
rips, or tears. It is blank
on the back,
