An absolutely exquisite original 1950’s strapless party/prom dress in an ethereal tiered white chiffon with ivory taffeta. What a statement this gown would make at the upcoming prom season ! It would also make a fabulous wedding gown – certainly lovely enough for a very special occasion. The style typifies the 50’s - oh so feminine and figure flattering – narrow boned bodice perfect to accentuate a narrow waist – with a twirling full skirt. No maker’s label remains but this dress appears to have been professionally made. No fabric contents label but this is a synthetic, likely nylon blend.

Note the special details on this wonderful dress – strapless (boned) bodice in bust enhancing layered chiffon, cinched cummerbund in crisp ivory taffeta to accentuate a slim waist and especially the wonderfully full skirt, trimmed in cascading tiers of white chiffon. There are three layers to the skirt – an ivory satin acetate lining, followed by a single layer of white tulle to give the skirt extra body, topped with the final layer of tiered chiffon backed by tulle. The dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included.

The dress closes down the centre back with a metal zipper and fasteners. The entire dress is lined in ivory satin acetate.

No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for a proper fit. This is an extra small size which would best fit a modern size 0 or 2. The bust area is quite narrow. * There is approx. an extra inch in the bodice side seams which could be let out if needed.

Condition

This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No stains and underarms are clean. I found no tears to the lace or tulle. If any minor flaws were missed, they are inconspicuous.

Unless otherwise requested, all Canadian and US shipments will be shipped airmail via Canada Post, which includes insurance up to $100. The shipping price below applies to Canada and US shipments only. I do not charge handling fees so all prices reflect actual mailing costs.
