Executed (according to the form of the sitter's wig) in the 1760s, presumably by Berlin court miniaturist Anton Friedrich Koenig, it is a portrait of celebrated Prussian warlord, since 1751 General Field Marshal Johann (Hans) von Lehwaldt (1685-1768; see our images nr. 4-6).

The well-known German miniaturist Anton Friedrich Koenig (1722 Berlin - 1787 ibidem) was a pupil of C.L.Blesendorf and A.Pesne and from 1767 worked as royal portrait miniature painter in Berlin, being the most fruitful North German miniaturist of his time. He is supposed to have made several thousands of miniatures alone of Friedrich the Great!
