From the late 1800s Southeastern Seaboard (namely North Carolina), appears a beautiful handpainted Cast Iron, Clothes Iron.  From Flat Base to top of handle is 4.5 inches. the iron base is 6 inches in height and 3.5 inches wide at widest point. Hearts in Red and vines of Green with decorated yellow ball to add to the art  -- Some red Stripes across the handle, possible to help remind the little girls who ironed at a young age that this iro that heated on a wood stove, was hot! Across the middle of the top of flat iron is 1 X L, on the very end is a # 5.  Many of these have a 7 under the 1 X L -- this is an older model most probably.
