A plate from the service of Napoleon III, French Emperor from 1852-1870. Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres, Each plate bears the Royal Cypher of Napoleon, N surmounted by the Imperial Crown. The plate has the date of manufacture of the blank, 1856, and marked with the red ink stamp of the Royal Cypher with 'doré'a Sevres' (Gilded at Sevres) along with stamp of "57indicating the plate was decorated in 1857
