Description

An absolutely exquisite original 1950’s strapless wedding dress in an ethereal confection of creamy ivory satin, tiered chiffon and chantilly lace. This is undoubtedly one of the loveliest wedding gowns from this era I have come across. The style typifies the 50’s - oh so feminine and figure flattering – narrow boned bodice perfect to accentuate a narrow waist – with a twirling full skirt. No maker’s label remains but this dress appears to have been professionally made. No fabric contents label but this is a synthetic, likely nylon blend.

Note the special details on this wonderful dress – strapless (boned) form fitting satin bodice, lace modesty panel at bustline, and the wonderfully full skirt, trimmed in cascading tiers of ivory lace and chiffon. There are three layers to the skirt – an ivory acetate lining, followed by a tiered layer of white tulle to give the skirt extra body, topped with the final layer of tiered chiffon and lace backed by tulle. The dress is photographed using a crinoline to show the skirt to full advantage – the crinoline is not included.

The dress closes down the side with a metal zipper. The entire dress is lined in ivory satin acetate.

No vintage size label, so please see measurements below for a proper fit. This is a small size which would best fit a modern size 0 or 2.

Condition

This dress is in excellent vintage condition. No stains and underarms are clean. No obvious tears to the lace noted. No significant defects to note. I noted two inconspicuous marks on the interior - a tiny brown mark on the lower skirt lining and what appears to be a lipstick smudge on the bodice lining. Neither are visible from the exterior and mentioned only for accuracy.

Shipping

Unless otherwise requested, all Canadian and US shipments will be shipped airmail via Canada Post, which includes insurance up to $100. The shipping price below applies to Canada and US shipments only. I do not charge handling fees so all prices reflect actual mailing costs.
