1937 George VI Coronation Red Bakelite Bowl Borough Of Doncaster.


This is a deep red Bakelite bowl with lid, commemorating the coronation of King George the sixth in 1937. Boxes such as these were apparently presented to school children in Doncaster on the day of the coronation. A similar example is housed in the V&A collections. The lid bears the inscription County Borough of Doncaster, 1937, Coronation Alderman S, Morris JP Mayor. The bowl has three moulded feet and a plain interior.


There is a small hairline crack to the white disc on the top as you can see in the photos.


Approximately 11cm in diameter.
