For sale is this authentic antique Indian manuscript booklet. This piece was purchased when a private collection of Indian documents went under the hammer (or up for auction). This is handwritten in ink on a thin paper. The paper has become very frail from the years, but is still mostly intact. I am unsure of the topic (as I can’t read the language). The paper is very frail, and can hardly be handled without tearing (I will be cautions to ship very carefully). Its artistic calligraphic style is a beautiful example of early Indian artistic pieces. This would be a great addition to any collection!

A fellow ebayer added: “hindu calendar known as 'panchang' in India; for samvat year 1937. samvat year is 56 - 57 years ahead of AD year, making this 1937-56= 1881 or 1880 panchang. not sure if you know, but hindu calendar is moon based and hence you would see two dates in one month. the calendar also has 12 months but since it is moon based, they do not always align with AD calendar month change. you would see date 1-15 for the first half of the moon phase when moon is growing; i.e. from no moon to full moon with 15th being full moon (called purnima), which is called shukla (literally meaning bright or white) paksh (literally meaning side or phase) with 15th being no moon (called Amas / Amavasya). again 1-15 dates would appear when the moon is in full moon to no moon phase which is called krishna (literally meaning dark or black) paksh. the calendar would also include celestial events like eclipses, movements of planets (5th picture with table at the bottom), good and bed portions of the day that you can start any new activities or hold off doing any celebrations etc.”
