New Vinyl , Polish release

In November 2020, two live albums by the band Maanam from the 90s are released on vinyl and CD. 20th century”: "Maanamaania Warszawa" (1992) and separately "Maanamaania Chicago" (1993).

Let's briefly recall the history of the band... The group gained enormous popularity in 1980. She recorded the famous first album titled Maanam (next year will be 40 years since its premiere). The album Oh! broke sales records, there were long queues in front of the stores selling this black album (there were no CDs, cassettes or streaming at that time!) Then Night Patrol and Mental Cut, two musical chronicles of a society entangled in a totalitarian system. It is valid then as it is today. The monumental Krakow Spleen is also sung today at demonstrations of women rebelling against the patriarchal, anti-women rule of today's authorities. After a period of extensive exploitation of the Maanam band, in the late 1980s the band suspended its activities. When Maanam returned to the stage in the new capitalist Poland in the early 1990s with the old, legendary line-up, he wanted the audience to remember himself again. He began a series of performances at the "Remont" club in Warsaw. The concert was masterfully sounded and recorded by our late, great friend Robert Brylewski, a legend of the Polish underground. This is how the album "Maanamania Warszawa" was created, on which Maanam plays his old hits and several songs from his then latest album "Derwisz i Anioł". On the album we hear Kora singing two very dramatic songs: "Sie ściemnia" and "Kreon". How relevant today too….
Concerts in the country were continued with a tour in the United States and Canada. One of these performances was recorded in a Chicago club. An interesting feature on the album "Maanamaania Chicago" is the ad hoc improvised blues "Placho Chicago Blues" recorded during a rehearsal. Its author is Maanam's guitarist, Ryszard 'Placho' Olesiński.
