Charming estate sale find in this colorful vintage 1940's - 1960's pinwheel full size quilt with fringe on cream cotton background! This treasure tells quite the story as the owners daughter told us her grandmother & great grandmother originally began this quilt in the late 1940's. After it was completed it was gifted to her mother as part of her wedding hope chest contents in the early 1950's, the edges had started to show wear through the years, so in the 1960's her mother updated the quilt and some of the pinwheels by adding a navy blue cotton backing, coordinating navy blue 3" cotton fringe detail along with navy catch stitch to match her then ranch house bedroom! Most of the gorgeous pinwheel sections (20 in total) are from the great & grandmothers dresses and shirts that they repurposed in this beauty with a soft silky feel to each, some are cotton too! Beautifully stored and well taken care of, this treasure is bursting with charm for days! This cozy and weighted quilt (over 3lbs) will add joy and coziness to any vintage inspired decor or collection! Would even be great framed for wall decor! Wonderful slice of handmade history, ready to find another family to continue the story!
