     I bought most of these pins on my business trips. Communist party of the USSR made a decision to build country houses the same way as they built in cities. They would have the same utilities (water, sour, gas, paved roads, etc.) like city houses have. The plan was to build about 400 experimental villages around the USSR. My goal was to visit these construction sites and to prepare a report for the Soviet Ministry department about the construction progress. During these trips (1969-1973y) I collected a fair amount of pins from all over the USSR

2.     Volkonsky   9 December 1788 - 10 December 1865, was a Russian soldier, political activist and author. He was a member of the Decembrist conspiracy of 1825, an attempt to achieve liberal reform by preventing the accession of Tsar Nicholas I.

3.     Gorky 16 March1868 – 18 June 1936, primarily known as Maxim Gorky, was a Russian and Soviet writer, a founder of the socialist realism literary method, and a political activist. He was also a five-time nominee for the Nobel Prize in Literature

4.     Pushkin (Orenburg region, read his novel "Captain's daughter")  6 June 1799 – 10 February 1837) was a Russian poet, playwright, and novelist of the Romantic era. He is considered by many to be the greatest Russian poet, and the founder of modern Russian literature. Was killed on a duel. Bought 1970, while visit village construction in Orenburg region. Full story per your request

5.     Chekhov (house- Museum) 29 January 1860 – 15 July 1904, was a Russian playwright and short-story writer who is considered to be among the greatest writers of short fiction in history. 1964y. I worked in city of Chekhov. Some foreign delegation suppose to visit this museum. But nearby cow barn was located. Communist party office called me and requested to demolish that cow barn and build another one. Full story per your request

7.     Ergash Zhuman bulbua (Эргаш Жуманбулбул) Ergash Jumanbulbul-oglu. 1868, kishlak Kurgan, Bukhara Emirate (now Koshrabat district of Samarkand region, Uzbekistan) - 1936. - Uzbek Soviet folk poet-storyteller. One of the classics of Uzbek literature. Bought this pin in 1966-1967 while working on restoration of Tashkent after earthquake. More info per your request

10.  I. Franko Born 27 August 1856 in Nahuievychi, Drohobych countyGalicia, d 28 May 1916 in Lviv. Writer, scholar, political and civic leader, publicist; like Taras Shevchenko, one of Ukraine's greatest creative geniuses. Bought 1969, while visit village construction in Lviv region.

11.  Lesya Ukrainka. Born 25 February 1871 – 1 August 1913, was one of Ukrainian literature's foremost writers, best known for her poems and plays. Bought 1969, while visit village construction in Ukraine.
