For sale is this incredible Catholic Christian Rosary fragment or other Christian necklace fragment form around the time of the Renaissance & Reformation era! This incredible piece would have once had three bails attached to it which would have held string portions (forming the shape of a Y). The top two portions would have followed up the neck as the necklace portion of the piece, while the bottom would have continued down to a pendant (most likely a Catholic Cross, with the image of Christ on it). It is made out of a brass or bronze like metal, and has a light green oxidation in places on it. There is some light damage from years of being buried. This piece has relatively high relief (but has worn some over the years). The images still stand today on it. The images themselves likely represent a saint, Jesus, Mary, or a spiritual practice of some kind. Pieces like this can vary on the subject. It likely dates back to the 1500-1600’s, which puts it around the time of the Protestant Reformation, or in the 100 years after it or so. This piece was found by a metal detectorist in modern day Spain. It was then sold to a dealer in antiquities from the region. I was able to acquire it from him, making me only a single generation away from its finder! I have purchased many authentic artifacts from this dealer, and have a high trust level for him (as his reputation is incredible). You will be receiving the exact piece in the photo. This would make a perfect display piece, conversation piece, gift, teaching tool, or addition to any collection! Don’t pass it up!
