This is a 1948 Westinghouse model 501-A radio made in Canada. It was called a "refrigerator" because of the shape. The cool thing is that this radio can be set several different ways, on either side, on its back. Your choice. Very cool. The black bakelite case was damaged & in need of TLC.  Removed all of the non working guts to make way for the new electronics. Repaired the damage using epoxy & a few supports. Sanded, primed & painted this very cool light blue satin color. The lines & overall shape make this a classic  mid century modern example. When I repainted the case blue kept the gold on both knobs. Look at the pics.  On the inside, I installed a new Bluetooth digital stereo hi-fi audio amplifier with 50 watts in addition to a big 4" Jensen Pro multi range speaker. Yes this classic is now a real boom box. This thing sounds great. Reused the original back panel to retain some of the original look. Installed the on/off/volume switch with the gold knob.  Man this is nice! All of the electronics are hard wired and secured to the inner supports insure a long life.  This is one of a kind Bluetooth speaker that is deco cool. A real conversation piece that makes a grand statement.  There is a new electrical plug also. The 1948 Westinghouse radio converted to Bluetooth speaker  measures a small 8.5" x 6" x 6" .Will look good, sound great and fit anywhere. Let know if you have any questions.
