NATURAL VEGETABLE TANNED

LARGE SKIN OF KANGAROO LEATHER.

Ebay have taken the lazy option and tried to ban the export of Kangaroo leather.

I always understood that Ebay was not to be used as a political platform.

Make no mistake, the Australian Government issued Export Authorisation documents prove this leather can be posted worldwide, totally within the law.

If you find this listing but are prevented from buying, please use the 'Contact seller' link so that we can help you.

NATURAL VEGETABLE TANNED KANGAROO SKIN LEATHER.

Size is about 850 mm (33") long X 900 mm (35") wide.
Thickness is just under 1 mm.
The dimensions are NOT precise.
If you want to know the thickness of the actual skin you will get, please ask before buying.

VEGETABLE TANNED

THE SURFACE IS NATURAL GRAIN.
There are no surface finishes or embossing's applied to hide surface imperfections.
Has a few scars from the wilderness the Kangaroo's inhabit.
And some stain from where the tanning process didn't go to plan. Clearly shown in the photos.
For many items and strops it will be as good as 1st grade.
Just serves to save you some money.

This item will be posted to you rolled but not on a stiff tube.
This leather can be sent to USA.
Some states may have restrictions.
The Ebay postage calculator is out of date. Please use CONTACT SELLER to ask us.

This is the grain side (fur side).

This is the one you will get.

Large skins like these always come from older animals.
That means they will have more healed scars from the wild environment.
Most of the scars are well healed beauty marks.

Ideal for making a sharpening hanging strop, pad block strop or rotary strop.

You can see that the tanning is very professional and done perfectly.
Temper has been achieved using fatliquor. Therefore the leather is not 'greasy'.
The back (flesh side) surface has been skimmed to provide an even overall thickness to the hide and to give a very nice smooth suede like surface (not brushed).

It can be used for wet-moulding (blocked) to form three dimensional shapes such as knife pouches, holsters and special tool cases.
It is not the purpose of this listing to detail wet-moulding of leather, but this is the right grade to do it with.

A NOTE ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THIS LEATHER:-
Most kangaroo hides available for tanning are a by-product of the carcass abattoirs. These are not, but were professionally produced solely for the purpose of making finest quality leather. They are from country areas with ideal conditions for high quality hides and have been skinned and tanned with care. The end result is this presentation of the highest grade possible. Just look at the photo.

A 100% renewable and sustainable resource.
Before harvest it is never treated with chemical dips or drenches of any kind. Neither are the native grasses the Kangaroos feed on.
To avoid chemicals we freeze our hides at the point of harvest. Thereafter the only treatment is the actual tanning to turn it in to leather. Frozen hides are preferred by our tanners, salted hides tend to produce inferior leather.

From skins obtained totally lawfully under a regulated program administered by Queensland Department of Environment and Science, who govern quotas, licencing & strict codes of practice. All were skinned accurately by professionals and tanned by a professional commercial tannery licensed under EH&S Qld rules who legally deal in Kangaroo. Only species subject to habitat-threatening overpopulation are allowed by the EH&S program.
You will get maximum usable area out of each skin. They are not reject grade or from unwanted stock, like some listed on ebay.
Kangaroo leather is a totally sustainable product. Some think it environmentally feasible to use man mine finite resources to make plastics. What a disaster that has been. When that resource is gone nature will grow native pastures ad-infinitum.

For export of Kangaroo product there is a small fee for an Australian Customs Export Permit. This is because Kangaroo is native Australian. The permit makes this product legal anywhere in the world.

You need do nothing more than make the purchase. We do all the paperwork to make this leather totally legal to send out of Australia and in to your country.

Below is a copy of our approved current Export Permit.

It is obvious that this licence also contains the species name

Macropus giganteus.

All inquiries welcome.

Be careful who you buy from.
BELOW IS A COPY OF OUR CURRENT, LEGAL AND VALID EXPORT PERMIT.
You will notice that it has not expired, like some illegal copies listed on Ebay.
If a licence is not current you leather will almost certainly be seized as it leaves Australia.

Here is a photo of our Export Authorisation. These licences cost over AUD$2000.00 .
Ebay seem to think the Australian Government might as well not have this legislation.
One of their Ebay consultants told me in writing that no foreign country will allow import. Total arrogant garbage.
No country in the world has such legislation.

Also:- Worth knowing is that some sellers seam to think they can cheat Australian laws to sell el-cheapo.

Regarding feedback:
In eBays own words:-
'If you have any issues with a trading partner, try to resolve them before you leave negative or neutral feedback. Use your common sense and good judgement before leaving feedback for other members, as what you write will be a permanent part of that persons record on eBay.'
In other words, don't leave neutral or negative feedback under any circumstances without contacting the seller first.
