Bit of dusting to upper edge of text block, else a tight, Near Fine copy in the scarce pictorial dustwrapper, lightly nicked at spine ends and with a small (<1/16") loss at heel, not affecting any text. A superlative copy.

Anonymously-written account of a newspaperman's escape from urban dependency and rebirth as a farmer and rural real-estate agent. Highly representative example of the progressive-era 'back-to-the-land' movement genre, celebrating Americans' independence, pluck, and courage in the face of economic adversity. Marketed as a straight memoir, but clearly incorporating fictional elements - we have tried, but been unable, to track down the original copyright entry to determine authorship. Not in Smith, (American Fiction 1901-1925 ). Highly uncommon in dustwrapper.
