Francis Edward Paget, an English reverend and author, produced this gently satiric observation of the various inhabitants of a vicarage, as reported by a young but wise owl. Paget often wrote of social or church reform, themes that are present in this book in spades. Frontispiece is a lovely steel engraving of our Strigiforme narrator, accompanied by a Shakespearean quote (which are also peppered throughout the book). Appended with a 36-page publisher's catalogue, dated August 1856.
