Mid 20th C. American Artist Art Wells Signed, on lower left, this Amazing, WPA School Figure. It is an Original Oil on Artist's Canvas board, circa, 1940's-60's. It depicts a thin-legged, top-heavy woman holding a tambourine with an exception expression on her face. There may be a few coins in her tambourine so she is possibly panhandling outside the local bar and grill. It is wonderfully painted in a style reminiscent of French born, American artist - Reginald Marsh (1898-1954).
1 1/2" Wide Gold moulding including corner and mid-stile/rail decoration is included complementary in this listing.
Artist's Canvas board measures 12 X 16 and is in Very Good Vintage condition.
Outside measure of the frame is 14 1/2 X 18 1/2 and is in Very Good condition.
