NOS 1920s Sealed GRIET “POLVO CHELA” Flapper Lady Powder Box by Mauzan Argentina


Description:

Very rare and beautiful hard to find vintage Art-Deco Griet “Polvo Chela” powder box designed by Lucien Mauzan.(*)

This beautiful round-shaped powder box is made of cardboard lined with red, black, white, and yellow paper with a silver-colored border line, depicting a woman sitting with a bouquet of red flowers.

Made in Argentina by Griet & Cia. circa 1920.


Dimension:

4-1/2" (11 cm) diameter.


Condition:

The powder box has some minor light yellowed stains on top and bottom, see photos (#3 and #4). The box is factory-sealed with its full contents.  Otherwise, it is in very good to excellent overall condition.

 

(*) Lucien Achille Mauzan (1883-1952) was born on the French Riviera, but moved to Italy in 1905, known as a decorative illustrator designing during the Art Deco movement, though he also painted and sculpted. He designed over 2,000 posters, using a style marked by humor and brilliant colors for advertisement and events and over 1,000 postcard images.
