This is a 1930's Meritone radio. Saw it at a recent radio auction, loved the shape & lines and bought it. I was unable to find out much about the Meritone company or this radio. Looks like they made phonograph needles in the early days of music reproduction but nothing on radios.  It was showing it had a hard life but had potential. The overall look is a interesting with a trapezoidal shape and fluted sides.  Really love the look. The case is both veneer and solid wood  requiring some TLC.  Removed all of the non working radio guts. Repaired the damage using epoxy & a few supports. Sanded the case adding some toner to even out the look. The case was finished with several coats of clear gloss lacquer. Cleaned polished the original brass bezels. Please look at both, cool.  I like the contrast of the bezels with the woods. Used a piece of beautiful red/gold vintage speaker cloth to finish the look. Big improvement  Please look at the pics. On the inside, I installed a new Bluetooth digital stereo hi-fi audio amplifier with 50 watts in addition to a big 4" Pioneer Pro multi range speaker. Yes this classic is now a real boom box. This thing sounds great.  Installed the on/off/volume switch with the knob on the left side. The other is fixed. DO NOT TURN. All of the electronics are hard wired and secured to the inner supports insure a long life.  This is one of a kind Bluetooth speaker that is deco cool. A real conversation piece that makes a grand statement. The back panel new. There is a new electrical plug also. The 1930's Meritone deco radio converted to Bluetooth speaker measures a small 12" x 8" x 5" .Will look good, sound great and fit anywhere. Let know if you have any questions.
