Carson Rockwilder 1/8 scale shaft driven Nitro 2-Speed 4WD Monster Truck 2003
CP4-M Chassis = Carson Pro 4WD Monster Chassis
Distributed by Carson, made in Taiwan by Ming Yang Model Co in 2003
Utilising a Nito glow engine: Force .25 (CI) = 4.1cc = 2.5HP
Polycarbonate Monster truck body shell could be a Ford or a GM or a Chevy.
Also with Lexan Stone Guards to protect the buggy like chassis.
As with all good monster trucks there is no centre differential.
In its place is an adjustable 2-speed transmission now tuned to perfection.
A roto starter has been attached in place of the pull start.
Roto starter included and uses a Tamiya NIMH battery with standard Tamiya white Molex connector, or you can connect a 2S lipo.
The truck has been tested and works well in all regards. I tried it for a bit with a Hobao truggy clutch but the springs were too hard for my liking so I went but to the stock flywheel and clutch as the clutch bell lines up better with the 2-speed transmission, it’s a smoother take-off and therefore easier to drive. I put a new E-clip on the clutch but if you do upgrade to a three-shoe clutch, I would guess that you will want medium springs unless you like an aggressive launch!
Steering servo is a strong 12kg analogue which is more than enough when using a strong RX battery.
Throttle servo is the famous reliable 3kg Futaba S3003. With a lithium RX battery pack you will have strong brakes.
I assume you will use a modern digital radio with failsafe however upon request I will include an AM radio for that retro look. They work fine but without a failsafe and so many 2.4Ghz interference these days I would not suggest using it unless you are in an open field on your own to avoid having it runaway.
The Force .25 Engine has tons of compression and starts effortlessly once preheated and primed, with the roto start unit.
The chassis is almost identical to the Ming Yang Sacker 1/8 buggy, hence that is the manual that will come with the truck, and some additional pages to explain the 2-Speed transmission and large baffle/truck style body posts.
Great fun, very fast, sounds amazing, looks unreal with the huge tyres and lots of smoke.
I doubt you will see this truck pop up in Australia again soon as it was mainly sold in Europe.
