We know of dealers who would get $1,000-plus for an oddball coin like this. It certainly is sufficiently rare and interesting to warrant such a high price. 

NGC-noted damage is nearly imperceptible environmental damage on 10% of the obverse and a few too many microscopic marks on the center of the reverse. Barely more damage than on many in "problem free" slabs. Nicer than the NGC description suggests.
