This clock unit is especially prone to electronic issues as well.
Even if the broken gear is replaced, it might still not work.
You may try in advance - if the electronic motor spins when given power supply, the new gear will surely fix your problem for ever!

This gear can be found in a number of vehicles from the mid '70-s with VDO electronic (Quartz) dashboard clock.
Some of these were:
- Mercedes Benz W108, W109, W114, W115
- Porsche 911
The list is incomplete, there might be other vehicles that have this mechanism and gear.
Also, if your vehicle is on the list, that does not mean 100% sure that it has the same gear in it, due to manufacturing variations and aftermarket repairs.
The only way to tell is to pull the clock apart.
