Hello geocachers!
A few months ago we wanted to create a medium-length trail with petlings and asked ourselves the following questions:
Do logbooks always have to be so fiddly?
Can the logbook be made longer so that it uses the entire length of the petling?
How can you keep the product as ecological as possible?
Could this be a little fancier?
The result is a small series of initially 480 petlings, which we lay out ourselves.
The logbook has a cover made of kraft paper (= thin cardboard) and colored pages (green, 160g/m2) on both logbook pages. For AGVs, or simply because it looks nice.
The paper is strong (120g/m2), smooth and easy to write on. We aimed for a reasonable compromise between the number of pages and the thickness of the paper.
The logbook is held together by a recyclable brass bookbinding screw.
The logbook can be easily opened, the pages that have already been written on fold neatly to the left and the cardboard still gives you a fairly solid base for logging.
The logbook was not produced by a printing company and was not printed or labeled. This protects the environment.
There is still a lot of scope for design; in theory, you can also add pages you have designed yourself.
The number of pages varies, so please don't be picky. We always packed in as many pages as our punchers could digest ;-)
The screw caps are predominantly white, but there are also some with green caps. If you want to camouflage the petlings, you can boldly use spray paint (green, light green, brown) and give them a camouflage that matches the surroundings.
We put free prototypes and sketchbooks in some of the packages. The booklets (see last picture) are very useful, for example, to write down coordinates or short information.
As I said, this is a small series. We probably won't add more because the time investment isn't actually worth it. But it was great fun. We put 8 of them in a suitable box and send the rascals free of charge as a consignment. This saves our and your costs.
If you would like to order a larger quantity (always in multiples of 8), please contact us before purchasing so that we can find a cheaper shipping method.
Have fun laying and happy caching!
