Franz Xaver Wolf (1896 Vienna - 1989 Vienna) studied at the Academies of Vienna and Munich. After his return from WWI to Vienna in 1919, he studied at the Vienna Academy with F. Andri and F. Fremder, then studied at the Munich Academy with M. Doerner and C. v. Marr. The artist made extensive study trips through Europe and the Orient.

Wolf primarily created figural compositions, but also painted still lifes, flowers and landscapes.
