Service for 8 of Antique Minton for Tiffany Gilded Medallion Plates, 

Here is a rare and gorgeous 22-karat gold on ivory-ground complete service for 8 from Minton, Stoke-on Trent, England. The set includes dinner, soup and salad/dessert plates. Extra pieces include 3 dinner plates and 1 salad plate for 28 pieces total.

The pieces feature 6 oval medallions ornaments etched with an urn, the medallions are separated by foliate ornaments. All the design elements are unified by gold beaded swags that circumnavigate the plate rim. Near the rim an acid-etched gold band that is unusually thick add special glamour to this service.

The service consists of:
11 dinner plates, 10 1/4" wide,
9 salad plates , 8 7/8" wide,
8 soup plates, 8 7/8" wide,

28 pieces in total. Note that while the border is cream or ivory, the plate well is white.

Condition: Very good, on some of the pieces there is the lightest of wear on the 1 mm thick gold rings around the acid etched band that surrounds the plate well, see photos.

Pattern H3655, one of Minton's famous "G" and "H" patterns of heavily gilded raised paste 22-karat gold porcelain plates. Made for Tiffany & Co New York (dinner plates and soup plates) and the Tilden-Thurber Co. of Providence, Rhode Island (salad/dessert plates).
